So many people were wrong in this situation involving friendships and Myspace. I suggest you read it. It really bothers me on many levels.

My thoughts on the ANTM season and finale
Dec. 6th, 2006 | 09:46 pm
mood:
blah
The finale of America's Next Top Model brought an end to a season of drama, both on and off the set. Between the writers' strike (justified) and their firing, which led to part of the show's downfall, and the ridiculous choices about which contestants to keep and which to let go, I am disappointed in this season.
First of all, it was a cheap publicity stunt to cast twins, although it did work and I was a fan of Amanda and Michelle. However, using them together in some shoots is not fair to either girl or to the whole group. And eliminating one twin right after another, even though Euguena kept a foot on the pool floor in last week's photo was just wrong.
Too many girls were kept purely on potential, or as it was speculated on the ANTM LJ community, to keep diversity. I am all for diversity on the show, but it's fairly clear that Jaeda and Eugena made it way past their time due to a factor other than their talent. Eugena was awful throughout the entire show but kept for her "potential." But what about the twins, who took a lot of great photographs but were eliminated?
I think Brooke's elimination was most unfair. It's pretty clear that she was eliminated on the night of her high school graduation just for dramatic effect. If I had it my way, she would be one of the top three, if not top two, with my other choice being Melrose.
If drama were snow, we'd be under ten feet and snowed in at our houses right now. Tyra took her time building up Melrose in the first part of the final judging, then CariDee in the second, but with more criticism for CariDee, which, in Top Model fashion, means she won. Trash the winner, build suspense, rinse, repeat, and start all over. It's been going on since cycle one, if I remember correctly.
I stand by the fact that Melrose should have won. Fine, she photographs old at times, but Melrose could turn on the personality and she did it when she had do. I found CariDee to be disrespectful. I don't think she was so innocent in the house either - she trash talked Melrose just as much as Melrose trashed talked her in the later episodes. Creative editing made CariDee pretty nice and Melrose pretty nasty. Did they show that Melrose shared the clothes in the challenge she won? No. Did they focus on the fact that others were talking about Anchal as well in the pool? No. Did CariDee get overdramatic a lot? Yes. And seriously, how could they eliminate Amanda on the day when she had to do fifty photo frames by herself because CariDee had to get out of the water?
Something is seriously messed up with this show, and if I wasn't so addicted, it would be the last season I watch. Tyra was displaying the overdramatic bad acting she claims to loathe, and claimed way too much attention while offering way too little support. I understand that she does her talk show too, but she started with ANTM and she can at least give it a bit of effort beside playing roles like spoiled actress and a dancer who *OMGZ* kept dancing when her shoe -planned, I say- came off while she was showing off her dancing skills at judging.
I will admit, I loved the runway show theme this finale, but it didn't seem very model-ish for them. And CariDee ripping Melrose's dress? I'm on Melrose's side - I'd be angry! They showed Melrose get upset, though, which would be her downfall. Not that we didn't know CariDee was winning ahead of time when the judges looooved her Covergirl ad.
Between Tyra's narcissism (hello Tyra themed house!) and her unnecessary dramatics, this season was lacking the magic of previous seasons. When it comes down to it, though, I'll be tuning in next season with the rest of the addicted Top Model fans, while catching AusNTM and BNTM on YouTube. Tyra might gain more weight, lose a little more dignity, and the models may be more like "real women," as I've heard the theme is, but I'll be sitting there watching as usual. And as a final note, I still say Kahlen and Amanda (of previous seasons) were amazing. America's Next Top Model, I love to hate you, hate to love you, but either way, I'm sure to be watching.

Cool website/survey thing

This site is cool. I write in six traits that I think describe me. You choose five or six, and we see where we agree. Once a bunch of people do it, it becomes really cool b/c you see differing opinions.

I don't know how everyone feels about prayer...
Dec. 19th, 2004 | 02:03 pm
I know I'm not the praying/religious type, so maybe it's hypocritical of me to ask everyone to say a prayer for Elyse. Elyse, one of the sweetest, kindest, and giving people I know, was in a car accident last night. I don't want to get into what happened to her, but she will be needing our prayers to get through surgery and heal. If you don't pray, maybe hope a little bit or something. Elyse wasn't the type to hurt anyone...it's terrible that the world felt the need to hurt Elyse.

Today...an improvement
Nov. 30th, 2004 | 08:59 pm
I listened to everyone's advice and had a better day. I didn't let myself think about the problem. Winter break should help things, because I won't be seeing him. Okay, but enough of this. I don't want to think about that.
I've got a quiz in History of the English language tomorrow. I need to know the spelling/sound/vowel changes from Old English to Middle, and Middle to Modern. Not fun. Not too hard, but not easy either. I should really study.
I tried printing out a PDF file from prsa.org for class, and for some reason the computer lab wouldn't let it print. It's not like I could try from a different computer, either, since the lab was so full it was practically a fire hazard. We were giving out numbers and constantly looping. There was no end to the madness. The guy I can't stand was there. College students should definately know how to send email. That's just my opinion, though. I could be wrong. Some girl gave me a huge attitude. She *demanded* that I print her papers from printer 2 because printer 3 was taking too long. Eventually I did, but only after clearance that printer 3 wasn't working correctly. I was about to pull her disk out of the computer and tell her to wait for an open computer because printing is MY choice because I'm at the desk.
So, exams week is going to be interesting for me. One on Tuesday, one on Thursday, three in a row on Monday. Ugh. Lovely.
They gave out packages of dental dams on campus today. Not many people knew what to do with them. It was almost funny...no, it was funny. We had a big discussion in the radio station. Ahh, Montclair State. :)
I hope we get web broadcast soon so people can actually listen to WMSC.

It's kind of sad. I read a bunch of those books when I was younger and it's sad to rob a younger generation of the same opportunities.
